Many Hands, Doing Good (MHDG) is a registered charity with a long-standing commitment to raising funds that go primarily toward music therapy, art therapy or dance lessons for children and youth who have suffered the effects of trauma. Selected funds are also directed to scholarships for post-secondary students enrolled in Radio Broadcasting programs. Currently our charity is only open to residents of Ontario but we would one day like to see our program go National.

The last two years have been incredibly hard on non-profit organizations. As a sector, we have faced significant challenges due to the inability to run typical fundraisers along with a drop in regular donations. With Covid hopefully behind us, we continue to face challenges due to rising inflation and the increased demand for social services. Moving forward, MHDG wants to be ahead of the curve in developing a creative marketing / fundraising strategy so that we can continue to keep the mission of MHDG alive.
That is why right now, we are looking for one to two (1-2) individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas: Marketing/Social Media, Fundraising and/or Event Planning to join the Board of Directors on a volunteer basis and support the exciting work we do. The anticipated start date for the position is October 2022. If you have this experience and like the idea of being part of a team involved in the development and implementation of a creative fundraising strategy for a growing non-profit organization, we want to hear from you!
Our standard meeting schedule is one weekday evening per month for two (2) hours. Additional meetings will be required for MHDG fundraising events and community engagement as opportunities become available. You should also plan on spending at least 2-5 hours per week on managing tasks; with the potential for more hours in the weeks leading up to fundraising ventures. The successful applicants will gain experience in governance, strategic planning, risk management, budgeting and community collaboration. Specific tasks that you may be asked to manage include the following:
– Develop (in collaboration with the Board) fundraising strategy for the short and long term;
– Manage social media accounts and develop relevant content for posting;
– Manage donor information;
– Develop leads as to new donor / sponsorship sources;
– Assist with organization of fundraising events/campaigns;
– Provide monthly reports to the Board as to the status of fundraising initiatives or as needed;
If selected, you will be offered a temporary position on the Board for a three-month probationary period to assess the fit and the dynamics. Attendance is required at all three (3) Board meetings that are scheduled during those three months. The successful candidate’s term will be two (2) years after the probationary period has ended with potential for renewal. Board members work in collaboration with each other and the Administrative Assistant(s).
